Greenhouse

In 2006, in partnership with Forests For Life and the Ministry of Natural Resources, WDDS began growing bare root White Spruce and White Cedar trees.  Since that time we have sold over 6000 trees to area landowners, businesses and community partners at competitive rates and built two (2) greenhouses.  The greenhouse business expanded to include annual seed collection.  We look to city landowners for seed sources including:  Black Walnut, Red Oak, Black Oak, Burr Oak and Sugar Maple.  We clear the seed from area properties, sort the seed, and sell it to local nurseries who then plant the seed and grow quality trees that we purchase, plant and grow in our greenhouses.

This social enterprise brings together landowners, community members and groups through the growing and selling of native trees, the collection of seed for area nurseries and through various community restoration/maintenance projects.Social Enterprise logo
